The “Magic” of Tongues 3

The great day for the PROMISE of the Father to come had finally arrived. The disciples, both men and women, old and young, had gathered together in an upstairs room on the day of Pentecost. Israel was celebrating their feast in the streets, but the disciples hid themselves from view in great expectation.

And then something magical happened!

Suddenly they heard the sound of a violent blast of wind rushing into the house from out of the heavenly realm. The roar of the wind was so overpowering it was all anyone could bear! Then a pillar of fire appeared before their eyes. It separated into tongues of fire that engulfed every one of them. They were all filled and equipped with the Holy Spirit and were inspired to speak in tongues – empowered by the Spirit to speak in languages they had never learned. (Acts 2:2-4 TPT)

Notice how the disciples were engulfed in fire. This is the fire of the Holy Spirit, the PROMISE of the Father. This fire ignited something so profound on the inside of them and this “something” was a new language. Each one of them received their own unique language with which their spirit could now use to communicate with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

But there was more that happened on that day. The infilling of the Spirit’s fire was so tremendously powerful that it ignited unspeakable joy, so filled with glory that their bodies began reacting like it was intoxicated. However, they may have looked drunk, but they became bold as lions and released so much power and glory through the words they spoke about Jesus that 3000 people got saved in one day!

From that time one they boldly PROCLAIMED the word of the Lord wherever they went. People were healed, set free, released from demonic power, received eternal life, and themselves became intoxicated on the wonderful fiery wine of the Holy Spirit.

They were changed forever!
