A Glorious Child of God
Have you ever stopped and asked yourself what it means to be a child of God? Not in the vague, Sunday-school sense, but in the bone-deep, radiant reality of it? We repeat the words easily: child of God, born again, new creation. Yet so often, we live as though we are merely patched-up humans, limping along in our frailties and faults, hoping to scrape into heaven someday.
But what if the truth is far more astonishing than you dare to believe?
The Vision of the Glorious Child
One morning as I prayed, the Lord interrupted my thoughts with His own. A gentle warmth spread across my chest, then intensified like sunrise. He brought before me the question: What does it mean to be My child?
And suddenly I saw it.
There before me was a little figure, childlike, yet blazing like the noonday sun. Its light was not the flicker of a candle, but the brilliance of creation. Scripture often says, “like a son of man,” and for the first time, I understood. As a child born of Adam, you look human. But as a child born of God, you blaze with light.
Around this radiant child stood the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, forming a circle of absolute protection. They looked upon the child and called it “My child,” and then drew it into the centre of themselves. No enemy could touch it. No accusation could enter.
This was not merely a vision. This is who you are.
“Therefore, if anyone is in the Messiah, he is a new creation. Old things have disappeared and look! All things have become new.”
(2 Cor 5:17 ISV)
What It Means to Be “In Christ”

Notice how Paul phrases it: “in the Messiah.” Not near Him. Not merely following behind. In.
To be in Christ is to be included in His life. You are folded into His being, given a position within His power and authority. And in that place, you are not only forgiven. You are re-created.
A “new creation” means something that did not exist before. When Jesus rose from the dead, His life became the seed of a whole new order of being. From His resurrection, the Holy Spirit brought forth children who are spotless, holy, and radiant. That child is you.
You are not a beggar at the gate of glory, hoping for crumbs of mercy. You are a glorious child seated at the Father’s table, learning the manners of heaven.
As Peter writes:
“You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people.”
(1 Pet 2:9 NKJV)
Do you see it? You are no longer merely human. You are a glorious child of God. And here on earth, that makes you an alien. You are other worldly! 😊
Identity vs. Accusation
Perhaps, even now, your mind rebels. You remember your flaws, your failures, your sins. You tell yourself: surely this vision cannot be me. Surely God sees the truth and must be disappointed.
But here is the greater truth: God does not entrust your protection to angels. He surrounds you. He sees no fault or failure in His child because the blood of His Son has removed it.
Yes, the accusations come. The devil whispers. Your own heart condemns you. But none of that changes the reality of who you are.
“Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy…”
(Jude 1:24 KJV)
Did you notice? Faultless. Not “trying hard.” Not “doing better.” You are presented in His glory without fault, and not grudgingly, but with joy.
Living as a Glorious Child
So how does this translate into the life you live among bills, errands, arguments, and daily disappointments?
It begins with vision. You must learn to see yourself as God sees you: radiant, holy, His own. When shame tightens your throat, you breathe and answer with His truth. When fear curls its fingers around your chest, you recall the circle of the Trinity around you.
To live as a glorious child is not to deny the world’s brokenness but to walk in it with the steady knowledge that you belong elsewhere. You are not trying to become holy; you are holy, and holiness spills into your choices, your words, your relationships.
And when you walk into a room, you carry the light of that child. Others may not understand it, but heaven recognizes its own.
See Yourself Again

Close your eyes once more. See the child of light; see yourself. The air hums with holiness. Around you, the Father, the Son, and the Spirit form a living circle of warmth and brightness. No accusation touches you there. No darkness dares to breathe.
This is who you are. Not one day in the future. Not after you have finally perfected yourself. Now.
You are a glorious child of God. Walk in that light.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean to be a new creation in Christ?
Being a new creation means that you are not simply a forgiven version of your old self. Something entirely new has been brought into existence through Christ’s resurrection. You have been born from above, brought into God’s family, and made holy by His Spirit. This identity is not symbolic; it is spiritual reality. As Paul explains in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “old things have passed away.” The shame, guilt, and condemnation tied to your old life no longer define you. Instead, you are clothed in Christ’s righteousness and empowered to live as His child now, not just in the future.
If I still sin, am I still holy before God?
Yes. Holiness is not a fragile status you lose every time you stumble. Your holiness is grounded in Christ’s finished work, not your daily performance. This does not mean sin is trivial; it damages relationships and wounds your soul. But your core identity as God’s child remains intact. When you sin, you confess and turn back, not to regain holiness, but to walk in alignment with who you truly are. God disciplines His children in love, but He never disowns them. Your holiness is secure because it rests in Him, not in you
How do I live as God’s child in a world that feels hostile?
Living as God’s child means remembering where your true belonging lies. You may feel like a foreigner here because your citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20). The world may misunderstand or even oppose you, but your security is found in the circle of Father, Son, and Spirit. Practically, this means anchoring yourself in prayer, Scripture, and fellowship with other believers. It also means choosing to embody the light of Christ in dark places by showing kindness where there is cruelty, forgiveness where there is offense, and steadfast hope where there is despair. You live differently because you are different.

Through God Enchantment, I write about the places where faith meets wonder and Scripture becomes alive in the everyday. Each reflection is an invitation to move beyond duty into delight, beyond religion into relationship, and to see the nearness of Christ in ordinary life.
