Ephesus 21

Are you aware that the kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ and He will reign forever and ever? I left you with the question as to when this event takes place. Has it already happened or is it something that will still take place in the future?

There is an enchanting (powerfully pleasing, appealing or delightful) Scripture that reveals this mysterious kingdom. Isaiah 9:6-7

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end. Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and to establish it with judgment and justice, from that time forward, even forever more.

Notice that this Scripture has to do with ETERNAL, forever things. It will begin at a particular point in time, which is when the Son of God is born and continues from then on for all eternity. There will be no end to the INCREASE of His government. Therefore, Once Jesus begins to rule His rulership will increase or grow from that point onward. Also, notice that His government is a government of peace, not war.

What is the throne of David? The Israelite’s were waiting for a natural, or physical, king to arrive and establish a natural throne on the earth that he would rule from forever. Hm, sounds like much of what the church is looking for too! However, Jesus firmly told Pilate that His kingdom was NOT from here; it is not earthly. Jesus preached the kingdom of HEAVEN. John the Baptist preached that the kingdom of heaven and of God was “at hand.” The throne of David has to be a heavenly, eternal throne and not a physical one.

David’s throne was not established by the Lord because He was such a good king, but because of his desire to build a temple for the Lord to dwell in. His son Solomon built this temple which was eventually destroyed 70 years after the birth of Christ. Now, even though Israel saw and believe this to be a physical kingdom, God was prophesying His eternal kingdom where He would be the temple and He would reign from that temple forever.

Revelation is not prophesying about the physical reign of Jesus on earth. He will reign and govern on earth, but it will be in and through His temple, which is His CHURCH.

One of the accusations against Jesus at His trial was that He had said He would destroy the temple and then raise it up again in three days. Jesus, speaking about His physical body, confused those He was talking to because He spoke “from heaven” and not from earth. Revelation is revealed or spoken “from heaven” and needs to be understood from heaven and not from earth.

Today, we are the eternal temple of the Lord, both as an individual and as a corporate body. He is the head and we are the body of the Lord, which means He is the GOVERNOR and we are the people over whom and through whom He establishes His kingdom of righteousness, joy and peace in the Holy Spirit.

Jesus raised His body, which is His temple, on the third day, just as He prophesied. But that is not all He did, He raised YOU up at the same time. He is not going to raise you up one day, He has already done so. He has already seated you with Him in heavenly places. Unfortunately, the Church is waiting for God to “come back” when He is waiting for us to “come up here.”

The beauty is that the Lord is causing more and more of His saints to arise. Many across the earth are waking up to who they are IN HIM, going into heaven, learning the things that the Father is doing, and bringing the message of the glad tidings, the good news of the gospel – the revelation – of Jesus Christ.

My prayer and desire is that your heart awakens to the understanding of who you are as His child, the rights you have in heaven and on earth, and that to you too the increase of His government of peace will have no end.

Have a blessed weekend.
