Heavenly Throne 5

Have you ever felt like life is crushing you and that you’re going to die!? I think we have all felt like that at some point. Truth is that when trials and tribulations come, they can be seriously intense and the bombardment upon your thoughts and emotions can make you feel like your life is coming to an end.

This was where John the apostle found himself on the isle of Patmos where Jesus gave him the Revelation of Himself and all that is to come. Patmos means “my Crushing” or “my killing.” He had been exiled by Rome for preaching the gospel and their intent was that he would suffer and ultimately die. However, John did not die there, his trial on Patmos did come to an end, and so will the trials and tribulations you face in your life.

Some trials are worse than others and some of them are “great tribulations!” So, what purpose does great tribulation, which makes you think and feel like your world is coming to an end, serve? Why does God allow us to go through such hardships that make us feel like we are being crushed and killed? Take heart, there is actually great glory that comes through great tribulation and this, I believe, is what the whole book of Revelation is about. It is about the Lord crushing and killing everything IN YOU that belongs to the world of ungodliness and unrighteousness that desires to rule over you. This is about your journey, and that of the Church, as you walk through this world.

Tribulation, which is the negative mental and emotional pressure you feel when you experience difficult circumstances, is part of God’s great plan. No one has suffered great tribulation to the degree and extent that Jesus did when He faced death on the cross. So relax, He is well able to handle what you’re going through and quite willing and delighted to teach and train you to overcome the world which is causing you so much pain and affliction.

Know this: Jesus is not upset or angry with you because you are going through tribulation!

You are not suffering because you are bad, or sinful, or evil. You are suffering because YOU ARE RIGHTEOUS, HOLY, AND PURE IN HIS SIGHT and He has a great plan and purpose for your life which will transcend this world and go on into eternity. You are connected to Him. The reason you FEEL the pain, heartache, fear and pressure of tribulation is because of your own mental and emotional connections to this world. It is these connections, called strongholds, vain imaginations and the high things that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God, which are the enemies of your soul called principalities, powers, rulers of darkness and wicked spirits in the heavenly realms, that Jesus comes to crush and kill so that they no longer have any control and authority over you. (2 Cor 10:4; Eph 6:12)

These internal mental and emotional connections to the world are the cause of your tribulations. But Jesus COMES and APPEARS in HIS GLORY (the clouds) and gives you all the weapons He has at His disposal for you to use against your enemies. This is your war, not His. This tribulation has come for your glory, for your victory, for your inheritance. These tribulations that you face are designed for you to grow up into the image of who you are in Christ so that you can manifest His glory and redemption to all of creation and so that Jesus can reconcile this precious creation back to Himself.

Tribulation comes and is designed to release and liberate you from the control and rulership of this world and to bring you into the glorious freedom that belongs to the saints. Therefore, be bold and courageous, fear not, do not dismay, for the Lord your God is with you and will bring you to a glorious end!

  1. For the past two weeks, I felt like dying, after reading this article I doubt that I would consider taking my life!

  2. Hi Yvonne,
Thank you for this, I got sick for the second year round on my tour to Israel. It is like I’ve been attacked by viruses, sicknesses and deceases when I get to the Holy Land. I was so sick that I said to the Lord rather take me I do not want to feel so sick anymore.
By reading the above I once again realise that the Lord do not put all this on me but evil spirits trying to take your focus of Jesus. Not want me to visit Israel. Thank you, thank you.
