Jesus Glorified in Us!
In this blog we are going to look at just how one we are with Jesus. 1 Corinthians 6:17 says: “…he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit with Him.” I truly believe that we, as the body of Christ, have hardly even scratched the surface of the revelation of our oneness with the Lord.
To start with I would like to point out that Jesus takes this subject very seriously. When He appeared to Saul on the road to Damascus He said, “Saul, Saul why are you persecuting me?” Now we know that Saul wasn’t persecuting Jesus Himself, in His physical body. Jesus was already seated on the right hand of the Father in heaven at this stage. But His body on the earth, the church, was being persecuted. Jesus took it personally. So much so that He asked Saul: “Why are you persecuting me?”
Likewise in Matthew 25:31-45 Jesus explained that when He returns He is going separate the sheep (the righteous) from the goats (the unrighteous). To the righteous He will say: “Come… inherit the kingdom prepared for you… For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink…” The righteous shall reply: “When did we do this?” And Jesus will respond: “If you have done it to one of the least of these, my brethren, you have done it to me”. Wow! Jesus sees Himself so united to us that whatever is done to us is done to Him.
The Gospel is all about our oneness and identification with Jesus Christ. He came down to earth to identify with us. Then He went to the Cross so that we could be identified with Him. This is the mystery of the Gospel. Paul called this mystery: “Christ in you, the hope of glory”.
If you are born again, then Jesus Christ is living in you by His Spirit. Because of this you have the hope of glory. The word glory has a wide array of meanings, but in this verse, it is referring to honour, value, praise, excellence and magnificence.
We are so one with Jesus Christ that He is actually going to be glorified, honoured, praised and admired in us. We are going to share in the very glory that Jesus earned and deserves! Sound too good to be true? That’s the Gospel!
“For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.” (Colossians 3:3-4)
“And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels… When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.” (2 Thessalonians 1:7, 10)
There you have it. When Jesus comes back, He is going to be glorified and admired in us. We are going to appear with Him in His very glory. Wow!
“…[God] called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Thessalonians 2:14)
“…[God] hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.” (1 Thessalonians 2:12)
God has called you to obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. You are invited to partake in the honour, value and praise that Jesus earned and deserves. And this isn’t even some future, far-off thing…
In John 17:22, Jesus Himself said: “And the glory which You [Father] gave Me I have given them [believers]”. Jesus has already given us His glory! In Romans 8:29-30, Paul said that God has predestined believers to be conformed to the image of His Son. And whom He predestined He also called, justified and glorified.
To be continued…
