Pleasing Him!

Have you ever wondered about how to bear fruit and grow in the gospel? What does bearing fruit look like from a heavenly perspective? Is bearing fruit the same as doing good works? How do you know if what you are doing is pleasing to the Lord?

It is the Lord’s desire that you live a life that is worthy of Him and pleasing to Him in every way. I’m going to call this your heavenly job description. What does “live a life that is worthy of Him” mean? What does that look like? How do you know that you are pleasing the Lord in EVERY WAY? If I had to ask you today whether your life is worthy of the Lord and pleasing to Him in every way, what would your response be? I want you to think about that for a while.

For most people I think the answer is going to be “No”. This is mostly because we judge ourselves by the things that we do, especially those things we know are not right, or pleasing, before God. It’s all these little things (or big ones) that cause us to feel guilty or condemned because we know we are not coming up to God’s standard. After all God’s standard is that you be perfect and absolutely holy, just like He is, right?

RIGHT! He does expect you to be absolutely holy and perfect in order to qualify for anything involving Him or heaven!

Now, that leaves you and me in a very serious problem because we cannot and will never attain to His standard of righteousness and holiness. You just have to look at the 10 commandments to know that you have failed.

And that is where living a life that is pleasing to the Lord begins. You begin with acknowledging the truth that is IN JESUS. You are IN HIM and therefore, you ARE holy, you ARE righteous, you ARE healed, you ARE blessed. It has nothing to do with the things you do right or the things you do wrong.

EVERYTHING you ARE is who He says you are!

There is only one hope that you have, and it is called the Gospel. The Gospel is the message of God’s amazing grace towards you and me in that Jesus shed His blood for you and purified you from ALL your sins. Grace, mercy and forgiveness are not earned through the good things you do. They are given to you freely from your Heavenly Father who loves you. They are obtained through your faith in His Son Jesus Christ.

You are saved by grace through faith and you are kept by grace through faith. Everything you ever do with, or for, the Lord is by grace through faith IN HIM. This is how you begin to bear good fruit – a life and character that is pleasing to HIM.

Have a fruitful day! 😊
