Sardis 14

I think the seven stars that the Lord holds in His hands hold the key to the different aspects to the power in His name, His nature, and His love for the saints. They also work closely with the seven spirits as Jesus mentions them together in His letter to Sardis.

I also think that these angels, as well as all the seven spirits before the throne of God are closely connected to the Lord’s doctrines mentioned in Hebrews 5 & 6, but I have not spent any time looking into that. It’s a thought that sits in my mind and comes up every time I think about these heavenly beings. The Lord and His doctrines are not separate things. His doctrines define who He is and how His kingdom operates.

For the sake of ease, I am going to name each of them according to the church they oversee but just remember that all the letters are applicable to all the church. Therefore, all the letters and all the ministry of these angels are applicable to you personally. I don’t know their heavenly names but then most of us don’t know our heavenly names either. 😊

Ephesus – The angel of God’s love

Jesus reveals a characteristic of who He is as the one who holds the seven stars firmly in His right hand and who walks among the seven candlesticks. (Please read the blogs on Ephesus). His desire is for the saints to have a first-love relationship with Him above all else. Those that have this kind of intimate relationship with Him will get to eat of the tree of life.

The story of Esther is a beautiful prophetic image of the people the king assigned to her to prepare her to meet him. Just as Esther had all these helpers, so the Holy Spirit works with His helpers to prepare you for your position as a king, a lord, and a priest, that He has invited to sit with him on His throne. I think we do ourselves a great disservice when we disregard the things of heaven while we try to live our lives here on earth. Esther was tutored and trained to fulfil her role as a queen and in the same way you are being prepared by God’s heavenly tutors and governors (angels and other heavenly hosts) to be able to sit with Him on His throne.

The following Scriptures from Hebrews are related directly to Jesus, yet as His offspring they apply to you too. This is where Jesus is wanting to take you.

But to which of the angels did He ever say, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet?” Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation. (Heb 1:13-14)

Angels do not get to sit at the Lord’s right hand, but you do! How exceptionally extraordinary are you!? Imagine, you are called to sit with Him on His throne and to rule with Him. (Granted, you have to have overcome some adverse tests and trials in your life!) Angels are heavenly beings that have been sent by the Father to minister (teach and train) you how to overcome – rule and reign in this life and the one that is to come.

For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father”? (Heb 1:5)

Are you the Father’s son/daughter? Have you been born of God? Yes, yes you are and as a son or daughter you sit in the same place of glory that the Lord does. Angels are not God’s sons and daughters.

So the devil left Him and angels came and ministered to Him. (Mat 4:11)

Angels came and ministered to Jesus after His trials with the devil in the wilderness. In the same way angels are also sent to minister to you.

The purpose and function of Ephesus (the angel) is to teach, train, and help you understand and grow in a first-love relationship with the Lord. I think he holds the message of God’s unfailing, unending, love for you and ministers to you concerning your perfection, sanctification, and purity before God because you are His beloved.

To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy, – to the only God our Saviour be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen (Jud 1:24-25)

You are the apple of His eye! 😊

Sardis 13

Over the weekend I began to look at the wonder of these seven stars that Jesus holds firmly in His hand. He mentions them in His letter to Ephesus and Sardis, so I think knowing who they are, what their purpose is and how they function with the Church is important.
