Sardis 15

What revelation about Jesus does the angel that oversees the saints in Smyrna hold? As I look deeper into the mystery of these angels the more excited I become. The adventure of seeking, asking, knocking, and finding the wonderful hidden secrets of the Lord is surely the most exciting adventure in the universe!

Smyrna – the angel of our priesthood and the Resurrection from the Dead.

To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These are the words of Him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again. (Rev 2:8)

There are two doctrines of Christ that I pick up here which are found in the Book of Hebrews 5 & 6.

Notice it starts with “the words of Him” – everything in your life with the Lord, the heavens, the heavenlies, the earth, the world, etc., is rooted in WORDS. Jesus is called the WORD of GOD and your interaction with Him is all rooted in your inner thoughts and words which release life and death on this planet.

The first revelation I see is the one of Jesus being the First and the Last or the Beginning and the end, or the Alpha and Omega, or the Aleph and the Tav. These are all referring to the same thing in different languages.

There is a description of Jesus in Scripture as our High Priest whose priesthood is in the order of Melchizedek. (Heb 6 & 7)

Melchizedek means ‘king of righteousness” and “king of peace.” Jesus is our High Priest in the order of Melchizedek and your priesthood, which you have been called to is also in the order of Melchizedek. The doctrines righteousness and peace are associated with the priesthood.

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne and it is so important that we learn to be able ministers of righteousness and peace. The writer of Hebrews desired to take the saints into the revelation of their heavenly priesthood and kingship but sadly had to take them back to the foundational doctrines of the Lord before He could do so. Also, the Lord will not take you into this position until you are well established in His other doctrines, namely: repentance from dead works, faith towards God, baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection from the dead and eternal judgment.

Your call is to sit with the Lord on His throne, but you cannot do so until you understand that His foundational doctrines form the foundation of His throne and the standard from which He rules and reigns.

The words “He who dies and came to life again” speaks of the Lord’s death and resurrection, which is the doctrine of the resurrection from the dead. The majesty of all this is that when Jesus rose from the dead, He raised you up with Him. You have already passed from death to life and in Him you already have all the authority and power that you need to overcome the tests and trials you face in this world.

Every area that Jesus calls you to overcome in is revealed in who He is, who you are in Him, and how His kingdom works in and through you.

If you are a child of the resurrection you will never need to fear the second death because you have already died and the life you now live you live in Him or from your position of eternal life in Him.

So, I am going to call the angel of Smyrna the angel of the Resurrection from the Dead.

I pray and ask that the Father would grant to you a deep understanding of the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and your resurrection in Him.

Blessings and love,

Yvonne

There is a sin far more sinister and destructive that I think Jesus is concerned with. It is found in one of His foundational doctrines to His church being repentance from dead works.
