The Cheerful Battle 6
What does it mean to be born again and what does that have to do with SEEING the kingdom of God or heaven? Who are these “born again” people?
Jesus said that no one could SEE the kingdom of God (or heaven) unless they were born again. (John 3:3)
The words “born again” are interesting terminology. To be born means to be conceived or fathered and the word again means from above or anew. Hence, unless you have been conceived (given life) as His child in the realm of heaven by the Father you cannot see His kingdom.
There is a divine connection or spark that happens when you are born from above or born again. Your first birth or conception took place in and through your mother’s womb. We are all familiar with this birth. But Jesus is talking about ANOTHER birth. This conception and birth takes place in the realm of heaven and is not governed by time and space. It happens in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, so to speak.
This is the birth of your new spirit which is a completely new creation. Everyone that has been born or given life in the kingdom of heaven is a new creation. The marvel of this creation happened in Jesus first when He rose from the dead. Jesus is described in His new creation form in Revelation 1:5-6 as follows:
- He is Jesus Christ
- The faithful witness
- The first born from the dead
- The ruler of the kings of the earth
- He loves us
- He has freed us from our sins by His blood
- And made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve His God and Father
Scripture says we were all dead in our trespasses and sins and that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Therefore no one is considered “alive” from God’s perspective until He has given them birth in His kingdom. Just because we are living, walking, talking people does not mean we are alive – God says that we were dead! Being born again is to be created in the new image and form that Jesus was born from. This is not the birth of the flesh or the body, but the birth of your spirit which is perfect, pure and holy, just like Jesus. (1 John 4:17)
This is why God can say that we are just as Jesus is, right here and now.
Scripture deals with us on four different levels and understanding these levels, realms, places is important for us to understand so that we can engage with God correctly in these different places. These are your heart, your spirit, your soul and your body. Your heart is the most central place within you and when you are born again it becomes the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit and is filled with all the love and majesty and wonder of God. Your new spirit also dwells here in the fullness of God. Your journey with the Lord now is to bring your soul and your body out of the realm of death and into the freedom that is yours in Christ, in the heavenly realms.
Renewing your mind is about connecting your soul – your thoughts, emotions, will, reasoning, etc., into the knowledge of God which identifies you with who you are before God and not this world. As your soul comes into the reality of the kingdom of heaven everything about you begins to change. Please note though that this change comes through experiences and encounters with God in the realm of heaven and not through academic knowledge.
I encourage you to ask the Lord to reveal Himself to you as the first born from the dead and then to reveal to you who you are in Him. There is so much He wants to show you and teach you and if you are His child, born again by His Spirit, you have direct access to the throne of God and you have the right, the privilege and the ability to SEE the kingdom of heaven which is within you.
Thank you!!! I love your encouraging messages.
