The Dirty Mirror!
Have you ever looked at yourself in a dirty mirror? Did the mirror change your image?
No, it did not. Just because the mirror is dirty, your image became clouded because of the dirt but whether the mirror is clean or dirty, it did not change your image. You did not suddenly become fatter, or thinner, taller or shorter. You stayed exactly as you are.
The same is true in life. Accusations, problems and false beliefs often cloud the image you see when you look at yourself, but they don’t change who you are. In fact, they cannot change who you are. And that is the great news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You are a child of God and there is nothing any amount of dirt, whether it’s a little or a lot, can change the truth about who you are.
The tragedy happens when we look at the dirt on the mirror and then identify ourselves by the dirt and not by our image. You have been made in the image and likeness of the Son of God and not the image that negative circumstances, thoughts and accusations would like you to believe. To say you are no good, worthless, hopeless, etc., is to identify yourself with the dirt that life flings at you.
The secret to a good self-image, which is to see yourself as you are in Jesus, is to take a cloth and clean the mirror. The “cloth” Jesus gave you to clean the dirt of the mirror is His blood. When you take the blood and use it to remove the stains of sin from your conscience you will see yourself clearly and release hope and beauty into your life.
You are exceptional! You are amazing! You are perfect! You are holy! You are righteous! This is who you are in Jesus Christ. Never forget who you are and who you belong to. Focus on who you are and not on the dirt on the mirror!
Have a spotless day 😊
