The Lukewarmer’s!

Laodicea 1

Yes, the time has come for us to look at this letter Jesus wrote to the “Lukewarmer’s,” the church of Laodicea.

Oh gosh, there was a time in my life where all I fretted about was being lukewarm and the fear of God spitting me out of His mouth. Granted, it is a very harsh image that the mind can conjure up but is God really talking about spitting people out of His mouth?

NO! No, no, no.

He is not spitting anyone out of His mouth; He is not sending any of His kids to hell, and He is not disowning any of his kids or getting rid of them in some or other way because of this grave lukewarm thing that they are involved in. I mean, really, how do you know if you are hot enough or cold enough in whatever this lukewarm thing is? What if you are too hot and burn His mouth or too cold and give Him brain freeze? Sometimes we just don’t think things through.

This last letter that Jesus writes to His BELOVED church is awesome. The revelation He gives them about Himself, His intense and passionate desire for them to know Him and overcome their enemy, and His highest call and ultimate reward which is for them to sit and rule with Him on His Father’s throne. This is not something to be scoffed at.

And in His great passion for the saints to obtain this reward He is willing to dish out some strong spiritual discipline.

So, now that you know God will NEVER physically, mentally, or spiritually spit you out of His mouth you can relax, take a deep breath, and pray the following – if you dare! (Please read it and understand what you are committing to before praying this prayer.)

“Father, as I sit here in your presence, I just want to thank you for your love and concern for me. Thank you for the blood of the Lamb, my Lord Jesus Christ, and that through his blood you have forgiven me and cleansed me from all my sin, sickness, disease, unrighteousness, and death. Lord, I am your inheritance which makes me very valuable to you.

Now, regarding your spiritual discipline in my life, I choose to humble myself and submit myself to you. I invite you to come and deal with every sin, known and unknown, that is hindering my relationship with you, and to discipline me in whatever way necessary, so that you can raise me up and elevate me to this glorious position in your kingdom with you on the Father’s throne.

I realise that this high calling and great reward will come at a great cost to me, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to be an overcomer and to give you the eternal joy of having me sit on your throne with you and the Father.

Thank you for your faith in me. Thank you for your great love for me.”

Congratulations, you just signed up for your death 😊

Welcome to Laodicea!

We will walk through this over the next few weeks, and it will be fun.

My Rights, My Way!

Like all the letters that Jesus wrote to His churches He begins His letter to them with a revelation of Himself which is going to be crucial to them being able to overcome the enemies they are facing. Notice how He is the one coming to them in a conversation. He says, “You say, but I say.” Both parties have an opinion in which they are expressing their rights and their ways.
