Thyatira 16
Over coming the works of the devil is such a marvellous thing in the Lord’s eyes. He is such a conqueror and is overcome with joy when He sees you and I overcome the Accuser in our lives. Victory is sweet, but sweeter still are the rewards that He so longs to shower upon you when you are victorious.
Are you aware that Jesus is competitive? Paul was competitive too and their teachings are filled with analogies with those who are competitive and win. War, battles, and winning are all a part of the game of life we are in. This fight is not an easy fight. If it were, we would already have seen the end of death on the planet. Because death is still around, we know we are still in a war that needs to be won.
You are a soldier in God’s army, whether you like it or not. You are here with a divine assignment which is to overcome and throw down the works of the devil in two realms. The first is the invisible heavenly realm that surrounds the earth and the second is the visible earth. And God has given you powerful weapons with which to wage this war.
The secret to victory is to know your enemy and to be skilled with your weapons. Let’s look at our enemy and his weapons.
In the New Testament the words Satan and Devil mean accuser, false accuser, and slanderer. This reveals the manner in which demonic entities wage war against us. They are not physical, or earthly beings. They are only visible in the invisible heavenly realm we often refer to as the realm or kingdom of darkness. They do not have access to all the realms of heaven, but you, on the other hand, do! 😊 That gives you a far greater advantage when coming up against him.
Paul says in Ephesians 6 that you do not wrestle against flesh and blood, meaning earthly or physical things such as people, circumstances, or things. Your enemy is unseen, and it is in this unseen world – the world within your heart and mind – where you wrestle with him. Have you noticed that accusations and slander are both connected to WORDS? The only weapon he has against you are WORDS! He is a liar and the father of lies. There is no truth within him. He knows the One who is The Truth and what The Truth says and will do anything he can to deceive you into believing the lie rather than the truth.
His power over you and humanity is accusation – which we call condemnation, guilt, shame, criticism, false accusations, etc. Jesus is called THE WORD of God. His weapon, which He has given to us, is like a sharp two-edged sword which destroys the accusations of the devil. Please note,
EVERYTHING IN YOUR LIFE HAS TO DO WITH THE WORDS THAT YOU TALK TO IN YOUR HEART AND MIND AND WHAT YOU CHOOSE TO DO WITH THEM!
I believe that we (the church) will never see the new heaven and earth until we have defeated the voices of accusation that scream within us against our brothers and sisters, against family and friends, governments, etc., until we have first silenced them in our own hearts.
We are called to pick up our cross and to follow Jesus Christ. In His death He cried out, “Father forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing.” He died forgiving His enemies not accusing them for their wrongdoings. His VOICE decrees that we are forgiven for all our sins through His blood, once and for all.
The question is, can we see others through the eyes of eternal forgiveness and the power of the blood or are we still too fixated on and in love with the “blame game?”
