Bless the Lord

May the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ bless you and keep you. May all His goodness and mercy abound towards you giving you peace, joy, righteousness, health, and wealth.

What a blessing it is to have the time to sit down once again and write to you. My hectic season is over, and life is back to normal. I have faced some tough challenges but the one thing I said to the Lord was that as much as this has been a challenging time it has also been exhilarating. No matter what you are facing in life, be it a hope or a dream or a struggle and pain, know this, when you walk with the Lord and keep Him involved with you it will be exhilarating.

There is a key that I have found which unlocks the wonder, majesty, grace, and provision of the Lord without you thinking much about it. David had this key, and it was the underlying cause of his success and if you use it, it will be the underlying key, or foundation, to your success in life too.

Psalm 103:1-2

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.

So, how do you bless the Lord? How do you bless someone you cannot see and feel with your physical senses? Is blessing the Lord some physical thing you do or is it something you do in another realm? Remember, Jesus said God is Spirit and they that worship Him do so in spirit and in truth. Again, what does that mean and what does that look like?

David says, “bless the Lord, O my soul.” It is your soul that is able to bless the Lord. Your soul lives in the realm of words, thoughts, and imaginations. Here in your mind is where you either bless or curse the Lord.  It is in this realm of words and imaginations that God interacts with you, and you interact with Him. He knows everything that is going on within you and He looks for your voice of blessing and praise.

To bless means to speak well of. Therefore, to bless the Lord is to speak well of Him, particularly in your inner being. It is to have thoughts of love and adoration towards Him. It is where you speak to Him kindly, with love and with gentleness. To have thoughts, imaginations and words that are angry towards the Lord are curses that you are throwing at Him. Curses will separate you from Him in your own mind and heart (not His, thankfully He is bigger than we are and able to deal with our stupidity).

But, if you are wanting the fulness of God’s blessing to manifest in your life then you need to check and see whether your soul is blessing the Lord. Learn to bless Him. Learn to speak well of the Lord. Learn to praise Him and learn to love Him.

Also, remember, He blesses you too. He speaks well of you. His thoughts towards you are always kind, loving and gentle. He does not get angry and upset with you. He is a gentle and loving Father whose heart and mind longs for yours to be engaged with Him in blessed conversation.

When your soul continually speaks well of the Lord and rejoices in His goodness and mercy you will find the kingdom of heaven undergirding you in all you do, and it will cause you to be successful in all things.
