Faithful Promises!
It’s Christmas and the world is singing and celebrating. Food is being prepared, churches are full, and life looks perfect.
I woke up this morning wondering about this day. I wanted to write a blog and share something ‘christmassy” but not a single thought would present itself to me. Then I thought of just putting out an image but that was just as dry. Finally, I thought I would just take a walk and remember you in prayer instead.
As I walked and prayed, I thought about Christ’s birth into the world, I became aware of how great and faithful His promises are. From the time Jesus declared He would come and redeem man and destroy Satan, way back in the garden of Eden, it did not make much sense at all. Then, all through the ages He kept reminding humanity that He was coming, yet no one knew when or how, even though the clues were all over the Scriptures.
And then the day arrived. Mary gave birth to the promised Saviour. God whispered, “See, I told you so!” with a delightful smile across His face. But to the world nothing had changed. They merrily went on their way, celebrating, dancing, singing, suffering, and crying. But shepherds, the unsung “nobodies” saw this incredible moment as angels sang to them and announced the blessed birth of the King. The Eternal, Living, Life – God Himself had entered the realm of humanity. Things would never be the same again.
It was an earth-shattering moment. It was a soul shattering moment and it was a spiritual shattering moment. In every realm of creation, the sound of the Saviour’s voice rang out. Death heard the sound too but had no idea as to what had just happened! They were too busy with the tasks at hand. Devils had duties to fulfil and they loved their assignments to torment the spirits, souls and bodies of men, women, children, animals, and any other thing that God created. No time to seek out where the sound came from – and certainly not from a little child born in a manger in a little stable somewhere.
The King of the Universe would be born in royalty with much pomp and ceremony. I mean, this is the King of glory, God Almighty! But God, true to His nature hid Himself in plain sight. The eternal promise of God would now play out in the heavenly realms and on the earth below. Quiet but sure, things were changing.
And just as surly as He came the first time, He is coming back a second time. He is so faithful to His promises and even though we cannot see how or what is happening in the background you can be confident that He is moving. His plans are coming to pass, and the kingdoms of this world are coming into His divine order.
And in your own life the same is true. He promised you eternal life, both here and in the ages that are to come. Maybe you cannot see Him moving in your current situations, maybe you cannot comprehend all that He is doing in the background of your life, but know this, you are His and He will always be faithful to you. He knows everything about your life, where you are, what you’re doing, what you’re thinking and what you want. His hand is upon you and His promises are unfolding.
This day, which we call Christmas, is His song ringing out over you, assuring you of His faithful promises and that not one word He has promised you will fail. In your life He has already come, and He has promised that He will come for you and take you to be with Him where He is forever and ever. He is your promise and you are His promise. The beauty is that all of your life is in the Father’s hand and all you need to do is quietly rest in the hope of His faithful promises.
So, wherever you are and whatever you may be experiencing on this glorious day of remembrance, I pray that your life, your hopes and your dreams are filled with the wonderful expectations of all His faithful promises being fulfilled for you.
Merry Christmas! 🎄🎊✨🎆🎉🎇
