Getting Drunk!
A Pastor was completing a sermon on abstaining from drinking alcohol.
With great expression he said, “If I had all the beer in the world, I’d take it and throw it into the river!” With even greater emphasis he said, “If I had all of the wine in the world, I’d take it and throw it into the river! And then he finally thundered, “And if I had all the whiskey in the world I’d take it and throw it into the river!”
The church was silent. Not a single congregant made a sound.
The music director stood up hesitantly and said, “For our closing song, let us sing the hymn, “Shall we gather at the River.”
There is a wine that should be intoxicating you all the time! 😊 It is called the wine of the Holy Spirit and, yes, the joy and giggles of merry intoxication should be a regular part of and an expression of your life.
The first stage of becoming intoxicated with God is knowing that your sins are forgiven, wiped out, far removed from you and God, and that you are free to come into His presence just as you are. When you begin sipping on these thoughts allowing them to permeate into your soul, your soul will begin feeling happy.
To go deeper you need a stronger wine which comes by thinking deeply about who Jesus is and who you are in Him. Deep reflective imagination on God and the wonder of His kingdom makes you giddy. The wine is beginning to take effect.
Continuing with the wine tasting will open your mind and imagination to where you start “seeing” the unseen. You become aware of God, and angels, and other heavenly things. You get really happy and the smile across your face widens. Tears may start flowing and laughter escapes your lips. To the unlearned you may look like a fool, but in the kingdom a child of God is breaking forth.
In this place, where you have forgotten about yourself and the woes and worries of life, Jesus appears. Here you will see Him, you will dance and sing with Him and your whole spirit, soul and body will be enraptured with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
I encourage you to take time to think deeply on the wonders and the glories of Jesus and His kingdom. Allow your feelings to connect with your thoughts until you see and feel the majesty of heaven. Let the Holy Spirit lead you deeper into the things of God. You will know you are drinking deeply of His love and grace as His unspeakable joy and peace flood your soul.
Have a merry day 🎆🎉🎊
