No Fear!

“Don’t yield to fear. I am the beginning and the end, the living One! I was dead – but now look, I am alive forever and ever. And I hold the keys that unlock death and the unseen world.” (Rev 1:18 TPT)

There is a secret that Jesus reveals in the above Scripture concerning how to deal with fear. Fear is a real feeling and it is not evil. For most of my life I just thought fear was evil and of the devil. The truth is that fear is an emotion or feeling that is real and comes from God. When used as it was intended fear is a warning. It warns us that there is trouble, that something is not right, or that we are going the wrong way. Fear, when understood and used correctly is a great friend designed to lead us into the presence of the Lord and His wisdom.

When you feel fear, there is a temptation to be drawn away by it and thereby yield or relinquish control of your life, thoughts and actions to the control of another, in this case, to that which is evil. This is the fear that Jesus tells us NOT to yield to. It is the fear that arises from negative reports concerning circumstances and situations in your physical life, be they personal, relational or governmental. Satan uses these fears to draw you away form your confidence in God and to yield yourself to him and his systems. Look at what Jesus says in the following Scripture.

James 1:13-16 When you are tempted, don’t ever say, “God is tempting me,” for God is incapable of being tempted by evil and He is never the source of temptation. Instead it is each person’s own desires and thoughts that drag them into evil and lure them away into darkness. Evil desires give birth to evil actions. And when sin is fully mature it can murder you! So, my friends, don’t be fooled by your own desires.

The key to overcoming negative fear is to know that Jesus is the beginning and the end. He knows everything and has already made a way for you before anything came your way. He knows where and how it started and how it is going to end. The worst thing fear can present to you is death, and that’s what usually comes up in our minds – we think it is the end of the world. So, Jesus says, “Look I was dead but now I am alive, forever!” This is how we should be responding to unholy fear, “It might look like I’m dead in the water, but I tell you, I am alive!

Not only that, Jesus holds the key to death and the unseen world. The key that Jesus holds that gives you victory over death threatening circumstances is wisdom and knowledge concerning His kingdom. His wisdom, knowledge and help come from the realm that is unseen, the realm of Heaven. As soon as you set your mind and emotions on Him, His kingdom comes!

It is the fear of the unseen that we tend to dread the most. Now, if you are feeling fear in any area of your life, stop and take note of it. What is it saying? Is it drawing you away from God or is it drawing you into Him? Where is your confidence. As soon as you have identified what is going on in your own heart, you can make a decision, and I trust that that decision will be to put your full trust and confidence in the knowledge that Jesus is the Beginning and the End, that He is alive, and that He is with you and for you.

Fear not, have faith, be courageous! 😊
