Jesus makes another declaration of praise regarding the saints in Philadelphia and commends them for keeping His message of perseverance.

Remember, they were facing the Jews who are liars and come from the synagogue of Satan. They were being treated with the harshness of the words and teachings that came from the Jews wanting them to conform to the law of Moses and to keep all the Jewish commandments, instead of just the commandments given them by the Lord which are to love the Lord with all your heart and to love one another.

Beware, these same teachings are still very active in the church today!

We are not like Moses, who used a veil to hide the glory to keep the Israelites from staring at him as it faded away.  Their minds were closed and hardened, for even to this day that same veil comes over their minds when they hear the words of the former covenant. The veil has not yet been lifted from them, for it is only eliminated when one is joined to the Messiah.  So until now, whenever the Old Testament is being read, the same blinding comes over their hearts.  But the moment one turns to the Lord with an open heart, the veil is lifted and they see.  Now, the “Lord” I’m referring to is the Holy Spirit, and wherever he is Lord, there is freedom.  We can all draw close to him with the veil removed from our faces. And with no veil we all become like mirrors who brightly reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus. We are being transfigured into his very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2 Cor 3:13-18 TPT)

The Law of Moses, as wonderful, beautiful, and holy as it is does not have the power to cleanse your heart and mind from the guilt of sin. It is called the Law of Sin and Death which carries the voice of judgment, accusation, and punishment. It is called the power of sin and death. It is this Law, which is God’s message to humanity, delivered through Israel, to teach them the realities they face and the war they are engaged in between the One True God, YHWH, and the rest of the gods the nations serve. It is not that the Law of Moses, written in tablets of stone, are evil but when compared to the Law of the Spirit of Life which has come to us through the body and blood of Jesus Christ it is evil – powerless to bring you to eternal life and forgiveness.

And today, whenever the law of Moses is read and you are commanded to obey it, the same veil that declares you guilty of sin and deserving of death separates you from your inheritance in Christ and the freedom from sin that He bought for you through His blood.

Trying to obey the Law of Moses is impossible! It will leave you frustrated and helpless in your relationship with the Lord because it demands an outward level of holiness that is impossible to keep. Neither was that the purpose of the Law. The Law of Moses is there to lead you to Christ and once you have been born again it is no longer applicable to you. You have passed over from death to life and in the kingdom of heaven the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus is the only law applicable to you.

So now the case is closed. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One.  For the “law” of the Spirit of life flowing through the anointing of Jesus has liberated us from the “law” of sin and death.  For God achieved what the law was unable to accomplish, because the law was limited by the weakness of human nature. Yet God sent us his Son in human form to identify with human weakness. Clothed with humanity, God’s Son gave his body to be the sin-offering so that God could once and for all condemn the guilt and power of sin. (Rom 8:1-3 TPT)

The saints in Philadelphia held onto the teachings of Jesus Christ in the face of the Jews who wanted to enslave them with the Law of Moses. Even today, you will be faced with the continual onslaught of the enemy and his teachings to keep you enslaved to guilt and condemnation because of your sins.

In the next blog I am going to talk about this sinister and dreadful thing called – THE FLESH! 😨😱😰

It will bless you! 😅

Till next time … be blessed.
